Meet Rechelle Carroll

I offer a range of focussed psychological strategies, from a strengths based, client centred approach. I am highly empathic and passionate about helping people through difficult periods of their lives.
I work with individuals and families, across the lifespan, in both community mental health and private counselling. I specialise in the treatment of trauma and PTSD, anxiety management, ‘beating the blues’ and depression, Perinatal mental health, grief and loss and re-finding our life direction and purpose.
I offer psychoeducation across a broad range of subjects; tailored according to the clients’ specific needs and preferences. I feel I have exemplary listening skills and develop strong therapeutic alliances with my clients.
I consider myself as a sensitive, warm, compassionate, caring, accredited mental health social worker (AMHSW), with over 15 years experience. I am very passionate about putting the ‘Soul’ back into therapy! People often come to therapy feeling ‘broken’, but the truth is that we are all a product of our experiences which colour our reality when life has been difficult. My role as therapist is to help you find and grow the seed of ‘Self’ so that you can live your life from an authentic place.

As a parent myself, I understand the complexity of human emotions and relationships. I provide holistic, understanding, non-judgmental care, to help adjust to life challenges.
I have worked in a variety of settings in the mental health field; and I am also in private practice. I'm an experienced counsellor with a BA Social Work and post graduate training in Psychotherapy and many other counselling modalities.
I specialise in a variety of evidence-based practices selected to meet individuals’ needs including EMDR, Family Systems Theory, Parts Work, Attachment Theory, Psychotherapy, Trauma-Informed Care, CBT, Mindfulness and Meditation, Polyvagal / Nervous Systems Theory and Solution Focussed Therapy.

I adopt a holistic approach to my work, addressing the WHOLE person. I help my clients to manage debilitating trauma experiences; creating a greater sense of safety and presence for those I work alongside.
I am inspired by the 400-year-old Japanese art of kintsugi (golden repair). It is an ancient pottery repair method that honors the artifact's unique history by emphasizing, not hiding, a break. It means literally, 'to join with gold'. In Zen aesthetics, the broken pieces of an accidentally-smashed pot should be carefully picked up, re-assembled, and glued together with gold.
Kintsugi teaches us to make the most of what already is, to highlight the beauty of who we are, flaws and all, rather than leaving us yearning for newer, better, bigger. From a psychological and human experience perspective, it teaches us to build trust and intimacy in our relationships and foster mutual understanding with others.
