Mental Health Care Plans & Medicare Rebates
You don't need a Mental Health Care Plan to access psychological support through Emerge. However, if you have a GP Mental Health Care Plan under the Medicare Better Access to Mental Health Scheme, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for specific psychological services. Typically, individuals can access up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
How to Request a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP:

Request an extended consultation with your GP, indicating your need for a Mental Health Care Plan.

Discuss your symptoms and concerns with your GP to obtain the plan for accessing psychological services and securing a Medicare Rebate.

Bring your Mental Health Care Plan to your initial appointment at Emerge.
After Your Initial Sessions:
After 6 appointments, your referrer will receive a comprehensive report from your practitioner, outlining the assessment, treatment, recommendations, and, if necessary, a request for further appointments. If additional appointments are needed, you'll need to revisit the referrer for a review to potentially qualify for up to 4 more appointments in a calendar year, totalling 10 appointments.
Clients may also explore reimbursement options with their private health insurers, although in most cases, the Medicare rebate offers more generous coverage. For more details on this scheme, visit http://www.psychology.org.au/medicare/
Session Options & Fees:
Each session (online and offline is available) lasts for 50 minutes and is predominantly led by you as the client. As your therapist, I will hold a space for you
to explore your thoughts, feelings and discuss any challenges you might be facing. We'll look at what you want to gain from the therapeutic process and work together to help you get there
My fee is $200 AUD per session. For eligible clients, Medicare Rebates are available to help cover the cost of sessions.
Cancellation Policy:
Payment is required at the time of your appointment unless an alternative arrangement has been made. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice to avoid a cancellation fee.
